Federal Holidays in the United States in 2030

There are 11 federal holidays in 2030, set out in 5 U.S.C. § 6103. Federal offices close on each and federal employees are paid. States set their own holidays on top of these, and private employers are not required to give paid time off.

How weekend holidays are observed

A federal holiday falling on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before; one falling on a Sunday is observed on the Monday after. The rule applies only to holidays fixed to a calendar date — Independence Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Juneteenth and Veterans Day. Holidays tied to a weekday, such as Labor Day and Thanksgiving, are already on a Monday or Thursday and never move.
